I have read that although the Apple Silicon Macbook Air comes with a 30W charger, it can actually charge at 45W for some of its charging cycle if given a sufficient PD charger. Does anyone know the maximum power a Macbook Pro can draw on its charging cycle?

Invest in one of those ~$20 USB-C power meters. They're handy to have around for this purpose.

Idk if this is relevant for you but on my 2016 MBP during charging it can sink about 58 watts when using a 61 watt charger and while its being used. When sleeping and with a low battery it will draw about 38-45 when charging as observed with a USB C tester.

Thanks. Then the profile of the M1 is probably similar given the same charger. Looks like there would be no advantage of going to a higher power charger and a 45W would not be much of a handicap. Most docks seem to use 60W on PD so that should be fine.
