I just put my Apple Watch on charge and it hit me I am charging some bit of kit every single day of my life!

My iPhone ,iPad, Watch, my Harmony remote control, Kindle, Blue Tooth speakers even my vacuum cleaner it seems everyday one of them is dying.

Pretty depressing I remember thinking years ago that they would bound to find a better way but does not seem so.

Ah well lets see what dies first tomorrow!

You are probably using the devices more often as well. I've noticed that my usage has increased quite a lot over the past few years. I don't think my iPhone 5 would last me even half a day anymore even if it was brand new.

I could easily go back to the days of no cellphones, iPad or Apple Watch. I do like my tech and it is a help to me in many ways. As such, I don’t really mind charging items. I just make sure that what I buy and use doesn’t become the focal part of my life.

And this is one of the reasons I’m not ready to let go of my 11 Pro Max. I charge that battery beast every 2 days!

I don't mind the charging I expect to do it I just find it depressing that after all these years of mobile devices there is not a better solution.

I remember reading years ago about one day our devices would just charge themselves using all the energy around us. Obviously that has not happened.

Before I got my Apple watch I had a Citizen normal watch which use something called Eco Drive which just charged it self everyday using sunlight or any other light it was just perfect. But I understand our smartwatches need a lot more power so that is a nonstarter.

Anyway the first company to come up with a better solution than Lithium batteries is going to make a lot of money!

The only device I make a physical effort to charge is my iPad, it’s the only one in constant use with a wired charger.
My iPhone and Apple Watch live on my shelf next to the bed overnight (I have never worn a watch to bed) the same as any phone and watch I’ve ever owned, only with the wireless charger they now get put down there rather than on the wood of the shelf.
My kindle and Apple TV remote do need to charge but they are done so little that it never feels like a chore
