Chat typing area - emoji

can the emoji icon be deleted from typing area? I often by mistake hit the icon so would like to delete. Thank you

Yes.
Go to
Settings>General>Keyboard >Keyboards
Then tap the Edit text on top of screen- then delete the emoji keyboard.

You can install it again later if you decide you want it back.

Thank you for your quick response. I have done that but the emoji is still there. Do I have to shut down the phone and turn it back on?
