I ordered this about a week ago, I'll comment when it arrives.

Looks to be the same as the $2 back cover in the other thread, and hopefully a smart cover that's better than the one I had received already.

My Package came today.

The Smart Cover is of higher quality than the other eBay one I purchased from the other thread ( https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1524474/ ).

I ordered black, and the magnets work great (both on the latch and in the stand position), and can't be seen through the material.

The case itself is almost identical to the $2 case from the thread in the forums ( https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1533605/ ). Although it has the holders for the SC, which the $2 case being shipped now does not.

It's also a darker black than the $2 case, but still has the same anti-slip/fingerprint feel/look.

All in All, pretty good for both a case and a SC. Pretty quick shipping from England also.

I ordered the black option, which is a Matte Black case, and Black SmartCover.

Also comes with a screen protector and cleaning cloth. Won't comment on the SP, as I won't be installing it.

Winning combo for me finally!

Does the back add much bulk to the mini? And does the included Smart Cover feel as sturdy or as firm as Apple's?

Thanks

The back plate is ~1mm and very light, about the same as most other back plates. The Smart Cover feels and look very much like Apples smart Cover, except that the 'hinge' shows a cloth like fibre on the inside, and isn't pure PolyUrethane.

It feels like it wont fall apart any time soon. It's a little stiff, but I guess most will be until worked in.

Here's some pics:

Thanks for your answers and the pictures. So would you say it's suitable for someone who just wants to cover the back from scratching without adding unnecessary bulk or weight to the device?

My other idea was to get one of the Gelaskin stickers for the back. I've got some reservations about using an adhesive on the iPad though.

Yeah, that's why I got them :)

Stickers are fine, but wont protect at all from drops/deep scratches.

How difficult is it to remove the smart cover with the back shell on? I like that it helps to secure it better, but there are many times that I simply pull it off rather than have it flap around/be in the way.

You have to lift half of the case off the ipad to remove the Smart Cover. Not overly time/effort consuming, but if you're going to be doing it all the time it may get annoying.
