Hi-

I lost my silver ATV2 remote. Not a huge loss as I've gotten savvy using my 'Touch and my Macbook as remotes. However, I haven't figured out how to get Chicken of the VNC and my 'Touch to do all the things the silver remote could do (like accessing "contextual" options menus in XBMC).

If that's clear, I'm wondering if people could answer a few questions about ATV2 and remotes:

1) can anyone point me to any guides as to how I can configure the Remote App for IOS, or VNC clients so they can access those drop-down menus (e.g. I think it's when you hold down the play button on the remote)?

2) or, anyone have any suggestions for an inexpensive remote I could purchase that possibly improves on the ATV2 silver remote, that they've confirmed is pairable with the ATV2?

3) finally, are all Apple Remotes (e.g., the white ones I guess) potentially compatible with the ATV2?

Thanks

-Doc

We lose a sliver remote quite often in our house - darn kids. We have two now for when one goes missing.

1) Not sure - never tried to access those menus with the iOS remote app

2) You can use just about any IR remote ever made with your ATV. Just go into the settings and have the ATV learn the remote. Theres a few steps to go through to teach the Apple TV the remote, but it works good when all set up.

3) Not sure about the older white ones, but I would imagine they would work fine out of the box (or you could always have the ATV learn the commands from the white remote if that didn't work). Any of the silver ones work fine.
