cheap source for compressed air?

Compressed air seems overpriced at electronics stores: at $20 (Canadian) for the applicator with 2 cartridges. I have not been able to locate a less expensive source. Any suggestions? (Canada only please).

This is assuming compressed air is the best way to clean beneath the keyboard. Or is there a better way?

You could just buy a small airtank. Usually they have a valve to fill them that is the same thing on a bike tire. You could fill it at a service station for $.75 or you could buy a bike pump, but pumping it up yourself is a pain. Buy a $5 "extension cable" for air, a cheap hose essentially, and a trigger valve, which will cost another $3. The tank might cost $15.


Or, buy a nozzle for cake decorating stuff. And some balloons. Blow up the balloon with thenozzle inserted in the mouth. There you go! Condensation? Hold the balloon in the freezer so any condensation freezes along the sides.

My Suitemates have disposable cans of compressed air that are made specifically for cleaning computers. Its pretty cheap.

no, not the industrial/construction level ones. I'm talking about the household bike pump kinds. No storage tanks. Could also be used to pump your car/bike tires, and blow away dust (comes with different nozzles).

And the storage tanks that are filled up at stations would eventually start to leak air as they age. I had one.

Something like this. I dont have this one, but a different kind that I cant really find, and it has a special nozzle for just blowing things.

You can look for refillable cans that can be filled with a compressor or maybe a bike pump. There are also smaller compressors for airbrush setups. Just an example

If you use an air compressor to blow it out, you'll need to make sure you have a filter on the end to catch any condensation that may have accumulated in your air tank. You don't wanna risk a drop of water finding its way into your computer.

Go to a AC company get a old empty freon can, large size, fill with air attach a hose.....works great to fill flat tires or blow air.... I have 2

I had a can of it and was quite expensive, didn't last very long either. I found I was using it a lot, getting right of dust off the screen or something - something that I could easily do by getting a tissue and wiping it.

Waste of money really; fun to play with though.

I always used the brush attachment on my home vacuum cleaner. Sucks that dirt out good and proper!

Make sure the brush attachment is clean, and that it's bristles are soft enough not to scratch the keyboard. Also, switch the hoover to low suction if possible, you don't want it sucking the keys off!

You can go to the gas station and put 25 cents into the machine to use the pumps for your tires. Might be a bit strong tho .

I am frugal so will likely only use the compressed air for cleaning where tissues don't reach such as beneath the keys. An arse spray sounds like fun tho. I got a can at Staples at a very reasonable price but have not tried it yet. Can I use it to get high too?

party baloons - $1.00
BIC pen - $50c

Remove inards and caps from pen so you only have the barrel. Blow party baloon right up. Stick the end of the party baloon at the top of the pent and seal with your index finger curled around your thumb then use the other end as a nozzle. Should give you at least a good 10 - 15 second burst of air.
