Now that Fusion is going to support OS X server, I'm thinking I'd like to install it on my desktop machine as a virtual machine. Not to actually run anything... Just to install and play with for the sake of learning it.

Is their 10-user license the cheapest way to get the server software, or is there some kind of developer's or education version?

If you join ADC they periodically make Server licenses available for download. But the license is only for development and the ADC subs are $500/yr anyway.
