20" white 2.16 GHz @ USD $1250, new: http://www.amazon.com/Apple-MA759LL...3?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1195348300&sr=8-3

24" white 2.16 GHz @ USD $1500, new: http://www.smalldog.com/product/41261

Depends on the price, of course. Refurbs are always risky business. Someone sent it
back -- maybe because it was a lemon, maybe not. Maybe Apple's refurb depot fixed
the problem (if any), maybe not. Unless there's a LARGE discount, I avoid 'em.

Before buying, make sure you know whether Leopard and/or iLife 08' are included.

...YMMV,

I just received my refurb 17" Core 2 Duo iMac today. I can't open it until Christmas, but many people solely purchase refurbs. You can get alot of Mac for a much better price. Hopefully mine will be perfect out of the box. I'm sure it will, but if it isn't, thats what AppleCare is for.

BTW this is what I got:
17" White iMac
2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
1GB memory
160GB hard drive
8x SuperDrive
ATI Radeon X1600 with 128MB memory
Built-in iSight

$849 from Apple refurb site. It isn't up there currently, but it comes up every once in awhile.

I've seen a lot of brand new macs DOA (imac G4, powermac G4, powerbook G4, and I think I'm forgetting some). IMO refurbs are no more risky. People just don't like the thought of getting something used.

Yeah i'm a huge fan of Lexus. Great cars. Excellent quality. More than just your everyday Toyota. I would know, i gotta Camry. As for the iMac, I might open it up and check it to make sure everything is ok.
