Hey, I have finally decided to download Windows Vista from my MSDN subscription since it is at Beta 2...I was thinking, I do not want to partition my laptop's harddrive, but was wondering if I could install Vista Beta 2 onto a external harddrive...I'm assuming that you can, just like any other OS. Anyways, I was wondering where I can find a CHEAP external drive. It really only needs like 30 - 80 GB, anything over 80 would be much overkill. It will strictly be used as a testing drive of Windows Vista, and therefore not much space is needed for me. Any suggestions, or anything??

Under 80 is a lil tricky, because lately everyone's going after the big boys (250+), but I'd probably build mine as well. There are a ton of options you should think of: power supply attached (cheaper option) or not. If you choose the latter, you should select a notebook harddrive. Consequently, notebook harddrives are cheaper 5400rpm (and even cheaper 4200, but I wouldn't suggest 4200).

If you're looking for the downright cheapest option, go to pricegrabber.com and do your research. Here's actually a link, because i got nothing else to do. Make sure it's (E)IDE and NOT SATA. Then look for an enclosure. Again, if you're after CHEAP, go for USB 2.0. I don't know if you can boot up OS from USB but that would be the cheapest option. link for that.

Of course, if you're lazy, and just want a really cheap one without building (not necessarily quality bad), here's the link.

ebay's always an option but it's damn difficult to rely on something there.
