hi all.

hoping the mac-ites, here can help me.
i wanna ge a macbook 13.1 incher.
i wanna get in instore so i can check it out.
i wanna get it as cheap as i can.

my question.

whats the cheapest out there that u guys have seen?

The baseline MacBook for $1100, that is unless they have a refreshed MacBook.

If you can't get a student or government discount, then ask for the refreshed units. Basically it is a return, but with a full warranty. Everytime I have asked, the prices were never as good as refurbs or the education discount, but close.

I know you said store, but I think Amazon has a rebate of some sort, plus no tax if you don't live in one of their distribution states.

Good luck.

thanks guys for the tips thus far.
good chance i will be doing the student thing.

can i do that at an apple store?

and do u get the free ipod then and there?

thanks in advance

You can do the education discount at a store (only Apple store, CompUSA or Best Buy don't honor the apple discount for students). You need your college/univ ID though (or some other kind of prove you're actually a student/faculty member).

EDIT: Ooops, It seems I was mistaken. Free iPod offer ends September 16th, which means, it's not over yet.

oh ok cool!
do u get the ipod in store?

Yes. again, you need to provide some sort of prove you're actually a student (Higher Education only, no high school).

i have my id card
thanks triddent222.

i hope to be a proud owner of a macbook by the 16th and say goodbye to my g3 ibook

You will most likely have to pay for the ipod upfront first. It's free only after a mail-in rebate.
