Hey all, I am buying "new" drives, but have read where folks would discover their "new" drives had been used before by looking up the read/write cycles or hours used. What app/utillity can we use on our macs to check if a drive has already been used. I googled the heck out of this inquiry and the search results always address a different question; it's f*ckin annoying.
thanks, G

Trying to check a new drive for read/write cycles or hours seems like utter paranoia to me. Just format it and put it to use.

You wanted something like "check smart status osx" it shuld have given you hits like this one eventually.

For a command line utility found at this link.

Or too do it graphically get something like HWMonitor a hackintosh program that will do it for you graphically on a Mac. You do not need the FakeSMC only the monitoring program.
