Cutting it close, right?

Of course I was very careful to turn off the data when I wasn't using it, but now I suppose I'll leave it on and see how my usage varies.

One thing is for sure, the 200MB plan will not be enough, although this month did include an anomalous 2+ hours of heavy surfing while at the DMV. Maybe it would be enough, but I doubt it.

Well done!

Did you sign up for unlimited or 2GB going forward?

Unlimited going forward.

I realized I forgot to edit out the phone number. Would you mind deleting the image from your post?

Thanks! :D

I have a 10G limit, that means 300mb a DAY !!! lol

250mb is no where near enough, i've used like 1.5G since the 1st of the month.

No problem. Sorry I did not realize that when I quoted it in my post.

I'm glad you were able to get the unlimited plan in place. I think for 5 bucks additional it is just the way better option for us!

For sure! Especially since I cut the cost of my iphone's data plan from $30 to $15, since I rarely use it for anything anymore. I kinda feel sorry for it! :(

I hope they let us keep the Unlimited plan for a very, very long time.

i think att's data calculator is really opening some eyes...

for example, look at this modest usage (sliders nearly all the way to the left except streaming youtube vids). It clocks in at 5.4 gigabytes!

I'm sorry but i just don't know what to say..... Those sliders can't get any more towards the left!

Wow! Pretty amazing stuff. I bet ATT is going to pull in a fair amount on overages and additional data packages sold!

Yes they could. If you do what the rest of us do and download apps and music with your home connection and instead of streaming, actually download videos to your device.

In my country the iPhone data plans have always been pretty restrictive. You just get used to making do with what you've got.

You definition of modest usage differs quite a bit from mine. I would say I am slightly above modest usage and I use safari a lot, but basically don't watch video and rarely stream audio. The ~60 hours of streaming audio and ~25 hours of video takes a ton of bandwidth (4.81 GB according to AT&T). Just with a decent amount of e-mails and web browsing, I still average only 150-200 MB/month.

Naturally I don't actually benefit from the new plans since I have a first gen iPhone, so I got grandfathered into the $10 unlimited data plan.

Like i said.... i don't know what to say....
The sliders aren't even at the halfway mark, and most of them are barely past 0.

I just don't know how you could get them closer to the left....

What about when a power user comes in here and their sliders are nearly maxed to the right?

Modest use is where i'm at, most sliders barely past 0.

Try it for yourself guys, good luck staying under 200mb! If you're going to try, I recommend not touching any of the sliders!

I'm so glad that I got the iPad and the unlimited plan. I plan on switching to AT&T for the new iPhone but I know if I was trying to watch Netflix or other streaming videos I would definitely go over the 2GB/mo limit. I'm thinking that since I carry around my iPad almost everywhere I go that I could opt for the lower data plan on the iPhone and use the savings to help justify the $30/mo unlimited plan on the iPad.

Yes, but the 1 you have all the way to the right has the heaviest usage and the ones you've got mostly all the way to the left are the lightest usage.

Do you really need to stream 50 minutes of video and 2 hours of music per day? Is there something wrong with the video and music you already have stored on your device?

If you really need to stream all that much then stick with your unlimited data plan and you'll be fine. Otherwise you'll just have to make do with what you've got like the rest of the world that doesn't have unlimited plans.
