Finally, a simple way to View, though not Edit or Re-Order Word documents on the iPhone! This is the app that I have been waiting for. Believe me, I have tried MULTIPLE document apps from the App Store and have been unhappy with all those that I have tried. With a few updates, Folders will be SPECTACULAR ! Filemark Maker (NOT on App Store, a FREE download) is the next best thing in my humble opinion ! Until Documents to Go by Dataviz is released (if at all), Folders is the way to go ! I will more than likely skip Documents to Go altogether, since Folders is nearly as good ! Check it out, it is well worth $1.99, in fact it's a STEAL !

Update Sept 6, 08: Someone suggested that I give Datacase a whirl and I did. Folders is a great app, but Datacase is much simpler to use and is certainly a better app, MUCH better! So thanks for the input! I deleted Folders and now could care less if Documents to Go ever materializes! Datacase is everything that I need! Hats off to the developers, GREAT JOB!

JDS, You don't happen to be the developer, do you?

No I Am Not The Developer!!!!!

Not!!!!!!!!! If I were the developer, you would in version 1 be able to VIEW, EDIT, AND Re-Order Word docs on your smokin' hot iPhone! And in addition, I would be selling this GEM for AT LEAST $10 !!! You guys are LUCKY that I am not the developer!

I second that! It is pretty sweet...

You can even hide folders so that they only appear after entering a password. So maybe you have a bunch of movies or whatever that you want to keep hidden on your iPhone, no problem. It hides them and then has a built in viewer to handle movies, images, documents, you name it.

So what does [app]Folders[/app] bring to the table that is different from:

[app]Datacase[/app]
[app]MobileFinder[/app]
[app]FileMagnet[/app]
[app]Files[/app]
[app]Caravan[/app]

Or did you just not know that there were already a number of programs that allowed you to put your files on the phone and view them? The only thing I see different at all is the ability to hide or lock some folders, which I believe is currently being implemented by some of the others listed here very soon.

Some standout features of the others:
Caravan has the ability to create and edit text documents (but the icon is ridiculously ugly)
MobileFinder is simple, effective and also $1.99 right now
DataCase has bonjour and shows up as a drive in OS X Finder magically. It can also detect incoming connections and give you the option to allow or deny them.

Anybody know of another file/folder program I missed? And when will one of these devs finally create the perfect file storage/view/edit app? :D

Well, I guess the argument would be that Folders has this feature right now, not "coming soon." So if you want some file protection or file privacy plus all the other standard viewing features, then this is a good app for you. Oh, and it can download files directly from the web. Great for fetching eBooks or other online documents and whatnot on the go.

And it is only $1.99.

So I was about to buy the FILES app cause I tried it for a short while on my jailbroken iphone and I loved how there was no lag at all (Like the lag in Magnetfile) but as I made my decision to buy it I notice Folders and that it was new and had a few features I could see using that the other don't have just yet. - Before I buy it can anyone tell me a few things:

1- Does it have any lag? (when viewing Large .pdf files or large .jpg file, etc.)
1a - Also does it resize your .jpg file ( I hope not, I would like to be able to get full resolution .jpg's on my Iphone)?
2- Can you re-organize files and folder? (I think someone answered that but just for clarification)
3- Does it support as many formats as the other file apps (i.e. viewing the file)?

(I know it is only $1.99 and I can buy it and just delete it if I don't like it but if I don't like it then the other app I buy is $6.99 which totals about $9 all together and that couls be as much as 9 - $.99 apps or a few good apps for slightly more.)

Thanks of your help!

I broke down and bought the $1.99 Folders App and I am disapponted!! But I will delay my review till the update is out.
Needs improvement:
-how to download files to the app. More files at once.
-speed of handling large files - kinda lags
-make it so you don't have to touch the blue arrow to browse into a directory

That should be all for now.
I do like the hidden folders and password protection. But as of right now not worth the trade-off
