That's a music school in boston, I have a couple friends who go there.

Is this discount anything special/different from the basic edu discount?

That's a sweet system, but if you're already in that catagory, I'd honestly recommend upping to the 17" MBP for quieter operation and less heat with audio production in mind.

There might be limited options (from Berklee, as well as from the students' wallets!), but I'd support the idea of a bigger/wider screen: when it comes to writing music, the screen fills up quickly.

The screen sure does fill up quick. on my 15" MBP it'd difficult opening both a Finale file and garageband/reason. I'm thinking of getting an external display for home use.

I don't know what that software costs... At UCLA right now you can get a 15" MBP 2 Ghz Model for 1999. That's 300 off the education discount price for a total of $500 off the street price.

I'm starting to think I went into philosophy for the money.
