I'm considering a used 11" M1 512Gb iPad pro, primarily for convenience use vertically on a piano music stand when populated with hundreds of sheet music scores. The current owner used it mainly for netflix and YT viewing. Is there a way to check for remaining battery life as one can with iPhones?
If out of warranty - which is probably the case, what's the average price for battery replacement from an Apple store/reseller?

You can connect the ipad to a mac and use coconut battery to check the battery health. As the other poster said it‘s $99 for a battery replacement should you find that the ipad battery health is insufficient.

If you are referring to battery health, there's a way to obtain the information from the analytics.

Settings -> privacy and security -> Analytics and improvement -> Analytics data -> any of the logs ending in ips.ca, scroll to the bottom and look for the "maximum capacity percent" part.

You can also tap the share square, save to files, and then open the file up in Runestone or another text editor and search for "MaximumCapacity".

There's a shortcut for this as well.

Let us know how it goes.

I just did this for my 2018 ipad pro. I could connect to my mac at some point and check what cocount battery says. It reported 93%. I’m happy with that.

That's pretty good for a 4-year old device. Mine reported 83%...:(
Well it’s not 4 years old for me. I bought it refurbished in 2020. I‘ve had it for 2.5 years. When I got it checked the battery health on coconut battery and it was 101% or something so I think it had a new battery fitted. So it’s 93% at 2.5 years.

Thank you for this. Took all of two minutes to learn that my 10.5” iPP purchased in early 2018 is still at 87%
