Checked my Serial Number...

My model was built in July, 2010. I bought it as a refurb. Chances are it might be a new machine? The odd part of the lookup was that it said "We have no idea where your Mac was made." Aren't they all made in China?

Codename: - ?
Build Country: - We have no clue where your Mac was built.
Build Year: - Your Mac was built in 2010.
Build Week - Your Mac was built in week 30 of that year (July).
Production Nr.: - Your Mac was number 260 to be built that week.

Does CTO in this case mean "refurbished?" Since all of the specs are standard configuration for the late 2009 27" i5 iMac... it certainly doesn't seem to be a BTO iMac...

I have no idea what CTO means but its not refurbished, my 17" MBP says the same but i bought it brand new and custom configured.

CTO means customised to order (normally). If someone returned a CTO machine for some reason that would make sense. Does it have any non-standard spec (even just a bigger harddrive)?

Refurbs get a special serial number. Post the first half of yours and you will know for sure.

Nothing special

Hardware wise ... it's the same as a base model Core i5. Could have had special software added. Donno, cuz I migrated my old mac users to this one... and no extra discs in the mix...

The first part of the serial number is: YD03007

I bought the same i5 27" iMac refurb in the UK. Looking at that page it says mine was built 1 week before i got it? Also has the CTO part. I'm guessing the build date is when it was refurbished? First part of my serial is 74023GH.

So, all refurbs could be considered CTO because you have to order them from the Apple store. It must have been refurbished during the 30th week of 2010, but not necessarily built the 30th week of 2010. The serial number check isn't as effective with a refurb as it is a new machine?
