Allow privacy-preserving measurement of ad effectivenessLet advertisers measure how they’re doing without associating ad activity with you.

To check or not to check, that is the question!

If you check it, then you're saying let advertisers measure what you're doing, but without associating "ad activity" (whatever that means) with you.

On the other hand, what does the *unchecked* choice mean?

It could mean "Let advertisers measure how they're doing, by tracking you and measuring whether you respond to ads and associating personal info with you." That is, disregarding your privacy.

Or, it could mean, "Don't allow advertisers to track you, regardless of associating it with you."

I had been leaving this unchecked, but maybe I need to check it. But I really don't want to let advertisers measure how they're doing.

Of course, it all be an illusion, anyway!

I'd prefer to see this choice--much clearer and much more privacy friendly:

"Block all measurement of ad effectiveness."

If you allow an ad to be shown at all, the advertiser can make usage of that. The only thing you can do at that point is choose whether or not to anonymize any results.

I have ad blockers installed, but it sounds as if you're saying, "Check it. Now." ?

The part that still unsettles me is Apple's wording:

"Let advertisers measure how they’re doing without associating ad activity with you."

I mean, I don't want to let advertisers do anything! I do not want to grant them any power: "Let them…"

Wouldn't it be better worded as

"Stop advertisers from associating ad activity with you."

I'd check it in a heartbeat!
