i saw that earlier today and wondered why they didn't just release an unnamed browser rather than hold up development. it seems very silly to let such an issue impede a release. ivoyager and camino are rather lame names. they should just call it "Pink", a little thanks to mike. i doubt there would be any legal issues around that one.

Pink is the name of a singer. They might get sued!
That is sad, who owns the name 'chimera' ?

It should be called Gamera, to keep in the same tune with Chimera

Gamera is the japanese turtle guy thing

I don't know if this has anything to do with the name change.....but, a few days ago, I ran ChimeraKnight, and I noticed that the change log had an entry that said, "Added a link to Chimera.org". I went to the site, and it's a developmental site for "a World Wide Web browser for UNIX-based machines running the X window system." I began thinking....maybe this site took legal action against Mozilla and Chimera (Navigator), and the Navigator developers added this link in order to please the people from Chimera.org. Maybe the Chimera.org people weren't pleased, and pressured for a name change.

Of course, this is just pure speculation.

What does everyone else think?

chimera is a browser for unix systems that was started before our chimera project. the origional is an amazingly beautiful and feature rich browser, just take a look at this screenshot
http://www.chimera.org/two/ham2.gif

obviously, two browsers with the same name would cause trouble, so the latecommer has to switch, which is a shame since ours is so much better.

Eventually there will be so many copyrights on names that you won't be able to name your product anything sensible.

I guess the old saying is true, "There is no such thing as an original thought. Only copies."

I sort of like Camino, it has a good ring to it. I hope for something a bit better however, although I can't suggest anything...
