got ahold of a chinese iphone. called apple they said the phone would only work unlocked or with a chinese sim. i cant unlock it though because itunes wont recognize the sim in it, denying me any software revision options via itunes. if itunes would just recognize it it would allow me to jailbreak it...

anyone have any ideas as to how to get this phone back online with a us sim?

Yes you can. If you want to use iTunes automatic update you can use a SIM proxy. If not, you can just re-pwn your phone every time a new firmware comes out.

Are you sure it's a genuine iPhone and not a hiPhone/Sciphone etc etc?

Might explain why iTunes is recognising it.

Wait, so is the phone showing up in iTunes, just giving you a SIM error, or is iTunes not seeing it at all?
