Chinese Input???

Guys,
I tried to use Microsoft Word
and input Chinese;
but somethings weired happen,
e.g.
1. the cursor automatically goes down to another line
when the words only occupy half of the line;
2. can't change from traditional chinese to simplified chinese
easily by just clicking a button ...

anyone can help???

In order for people to help you, please tell us which version of OS X you're using, as well as which version of Microsoft Word.

There is no automatic translation from Traditional to Simplified Chinese but if you're talking about switching from one to the other, you can use command-spacebar to walk through the various choices in the language menu.

I'd say that there are issues with MS Word and Chinese but I can't test that. I've had good luck with Chinese and Japanese in MSN Messenger so MS apparently know how to do it correctly. Do you have all the correct languages selected in the MS Word preferences? Also, you may want to try a different font to see if that improves the space usage.

Word and Chinese input don't mix - the problem gets even worse when you try to edit. I've gone over to using Text Edit, it works beautifully. If you have to mail docs written in Chinese to a Word user, just save as pdf (from the print menu in Text Edit). I can open Word docs in Text Edit and the characters show fine and can be edited easily, but it doesn't work if you try to open a Chinese file made in TE, in Word.

But if you need a program with more possibilites, you can use Nisus Writer, Neo Office, Apple Works and probably lots of others as well. Just stay away from Word when you're writing in Chinese.

The Chinese Text Converter that came with my Mac seems to have stopped working with the latest OS update, but you can convert between simplified and traditional with Dim Sum (http://www.mandarintools.com/dimsum.html), or you can get Wenlin (expensive but fantastic, www.wenlin.com) or Clavis Sinica (the poor man's Wenlin, but still good, at http://www.clavisinica.com/).

I did a REALLY fast check in Pages, it seems to behave fine, too
