has anyone else noticed that you can now choose if you want your machine to be loaded with 9 or X at the apple store online (educational). has it always been like this?

hmm, thats strange, why not gte em both loaded, or would that cost to much, this isn't good for apple, if they wanna push OSX

It's been like that for quite a while now. I think it's more a question of which OS the machine boots into. To have to fill out all of the crappy registration details on hundreds of new macs in OS X then have to do it all over again in OS 9 (as I have in the past few weeks) is annoying:rolleyes:

I think that the education store has always had the choice. Alot of schools are staying with OS 9 for now due to cost of other software, etc.

neilt

It's what the computer will boot to, they have both installed.

FWIW, we ordered 120 eMacs, OS 9 boot models and not one of them booted 9, all booted X. Pissed me off.

yeah i find it odd that 10.2 didnt come pre-loaded with 9...
but they are really pushing everyone to use X as their permanet OS.
