Hi, so I’m planning to get the new mac mini (as soon as I settle on the configuration I want), but this will be my first time havin to buy a monitor separately, so I’m getting kinda overwhelmed by the different advice/opinions I’ve been reading about what’s best?

At the moment I’m still using my late 2012 27” iMac (which is 1440p apparently), and I find it perfectly fine for my needs, but I’d like to try getting something smaller to see if it might work better for me?

So I’ve been looking at different 1440p 24” monitors, and also one 22” one, a to me they all seem pretty similar in terms of their specs.

But maybe there’s something I haven’t considered yet, or something I’ve missed that makes some o the monitors on my shortlist not suitable? Please let me know any thoughts, advice, or recommendations you might have?

My current shortlist of monitors, in no particular order:

I'm going to make a prediction:

After using a 27" display for a long time, if you move to a smaller display, you are going to become quite dissatisfied with the smaller monitor in very short order.

Try it and see for yourself.

That is a worry I have. But my vision is terrible so I found I always use just a portion of my screen and a smaller monitor would fit my desk better, so I thought I’d give it a try.

"But my vision is terrible"

My vision isn't what it used to be.
What helps - particularly with text -- is to make it LARGER, NOT smaller.
I use a 27" display (4k) but run it at "looks like 1080p". Works for me.

I believe you should re-think what you posted in #3 above...

The problem with my vision is that I have a very limited visual field, not really visual acuity, though I am also slightly near sighted as well.

You could get a matching 5k iMac and mod it with a controller board.

or mod the one you have!
