Chopping HD video from Macbook Pro to Samsung Smart TV

Hi,

I have a 2011 Macbook Pro 13", 2.7 GHz i7 processor with 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 running OSX Leopard. I recently bought a Samsung Smart TV (UE46D8005) and get problems with chopping video when playing HD videos via my Mac's Mini DisplayPort to HDMI.

This is what we've tried:
1. Updated all firmware for the TV and all system updates on Mac (doesn't help).
2. Tried different HDMI cables, standard HDMI 1.4 (doesn't help).
3. Tried with both Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cables and with Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter with HDMI cables (doesn't help).
4. Tried playing the videos via Windows 7 on the Mac using VMWare Fusion and HDMI (doesn't help).
5. Tried playing the videos from two different 2011 Macbook Pros 13" Mini DisplayPort to HDMI (same problem there).
6. Tried different media players: XBMC, VLC, QuickTime etc. (doesn't help).
7. Tried PS3 media server and TVMOBILi = lagging probably due that the wireless connection doesn't suffice for HD streaming.

However, the following works perfectly:
1. Playing the videos via Playstation 3 to the TV, HDMI to HDMI.
2. Playing the videos via USB stick to the TV:s USB HDD port.

This is very frustrating. Of course we want to be able to use our Macbook Pros to show videos on our TV. Is this a common problem for all Macbook Pros as of 2011? Since we've tried two different computers and both get the same problem I mean.

How do we solve this? Is there some screen/graphic settings that need to be adjusted? Is it a standard Mini DisplayPort to HDMI issue?

Sorry, don't have an answer for your issues. Can you verify that the files playback without issue on the macs directly? Have you tried connecting the macs to a different LCD or monitor? (If so, do you have the same issues there)?

Part of me wants to say there is a setting in the TV that needs to be turned off. Think my friend had an issue and turned off the "auto motion plus" on his Samsung as it was causing some motion blur. This was under the advanced settings.

I'd verify if you have any issues outputting video from the macs first, then see what you can find for settings in the TV.
