I'm not sure what is the cause of it but after updating my 2011 MacBook Pro to 10.10.3, after a few hours of usage, the dock bounce animations and animations while opening apps because noticeably choppy and slow. A simple restart fixes it temporarily but eventually it begins again. Has anyone else experienced this or something similar?

My doc animations are fine. Have you checked your cpu usage in Activity Monitor?

Nothing out of the ordinary as far as high cpu usage. In fact, I did a clean install and it still is happening on 10.10.3, never happened prior to that.

A couple of things to try:
  • Repair Permissions in Disk Utility and reboot.
  • Reset PRAM.

I went ahead and tried the Command-Option-P-R and i'll keep an eye on it. After my first logic board replacement (which has been refunded), I am very cautious of any graphics related problems.
