Anyone experiencing choppy/stuttering scrolling using the touchpad on the new 16" MB Pro? Running the M1 Pro.

I have this issue where scrolling in almost any application (safari, firefox, Word, Preview etc.) will "jump back" a few lines as it slows to a stop. It's an odd behavior I never experienced on any Mac before. Unfortunately, it's hard to reproduce but I'll try to get a video of it. It's not "rare," but I can't seem to intentionally make it happen.

Only happens with the touchpad. Thought it was a browser issue, but since it happens in Word, Preview, and other apps, it seems something finicky with the touchpad and scrolling behavior.

I've only seen it happen in Music's Song view when I would scroll to the end of a list. Nothing I can reproduce regularly. Scrolling is smooth otherwise.

I had this exact same issue and it seemed to only happen when I was in "low power mode". I had it set to be enabled all the time to enjoy even longer battery life and once I turned it off the stuttering and "jump back" behaviour stopped.

This was back in Jan/Feb and I contacted Apple support and their solution was to do the usual resetting of everything, reinstall the OS but none of that helped. I guess the issue hasn't been addressed yet in the OS if its still happening to you. I've never bothered to go back and turn the "always be in low power mode" setting back on.

great tip! I’ve been using LPM since my first week all the time, so I’ll switch it off and give this a go. Will report back if it seems to work.

Quick update—been running with LPM OFF and so far, so good! Just charging a little more than usual, but that’s no big deal.
