Are you sure ? @idczar post says that he still faced the same issue. after the update

I can definitely say that playback with YouTube, FHD even HDR 60fps looks great, no tearing, no frame drop, unfortunately infuse with several mkv files and also Netflix is a disaster for me, on ax’s Max of course. Damn, if I knew I would have stayed with my X.... also I’m experiencing some lag in some games, maybe all the apps are not yet optimized for the new phones....

So you are staying with your phone right? As there is no guarantee that a replacement phone will not have this issue.

So you are saying there is no issue on your Wife's iPhone XS Max? Have you tested this stuttering throughly on her device?
No my wife’s has the stutter issue but not the top speaker going out about every 3 days I’m on my 4th replacement device and still have same issues video judder I’m just leaving off autobrighness hopefully I don’t get screen burn in but I only keep it at 50-70 percent brightness but my speaker goes out about every 3 days there is a whole thread about that issue as well but my wife has not had that issue at all I even got my 3rd replacement and redone everything from new no backups of nothing I had to reinstall everything manually and problem still happens like I said they need to fix this video judder bug as well as top speaker keep going out bug and also fix the lte bug it seems my phone wants to hang onto 4g and not switch to lte unless I toggle airplane mode on and off that’s been issue since 12.1 it’s like it’s just getting worse now last Watch os 5.1 bricked my series 4 watch now apple has to replace this they pulled 5.1 from iTunes and now they put out 5.1.1 apple software is just getting worse and worse no wonder the stock is going down I sold my stick before the crash just wait apple has never lasted without Steve Jobs and it’s looking like it will catch up to them again. Unless they get some good software and hardware engineers and not treat them to cupcakes like ol Tim Cook does when there is a screw up fire that ass and get someone who can do it Steve would have fires everyone putting out trash like this while Tim Cook says it ok and gives them cupcakes when they release trash

Ok guys, so have an update here. I had logged this bug on Apple bug reporter. And their engineering team had requested logs from me.

Here is the reply that I got from them

Hello Arjun,

I then emailed them again with this -

It doesn't matter if my bug is a duplicate of an original bug. If I am facing the issue on my device, I need a resolution for my issue.
Kindly provide categorical answers to the following questions:

1. Is this bug going to get fixed or not. If it is a hardware issue I need a replacement for my device.
2. What is the status of the original bug that has been raised ? Is it going to get fixed at all?

Their reply to my mail -

Thank you for contacting us.

At this time, there isn't any new information, or a timeframe for a fix available for the original issue, or your duplicate bug report. For security and privacy reasons, we don't provide access to bugs that you didn't originate.

We consider this issue closed. If you have any questions or concern regarding this issue, please update your report directly (https://bugreport.apple.com).

So where exactly they asked you for additional logs? They just said that they closed your case as it’s a duplicate of another one opened earlier by someone else and can’t provide you any details. That’s basically it, no further information, nothing.

They asked for additional logs when I had raised the bug on the reporter. here see the snapshot

Guys those who have the issue, what are you doing about it? Anyone tried any alternate route

The only thing you can do is sit and wait. The more people who file bug reports with Apple the more attention the issue will receive.

I have the XS Max, and I turned on House of Cards today, and it did a strange stutter / slow lag effect. This occurred sometimes when I zoomed the screen in and out. It started working properly again if I scrubbed the timeline or pressed the button that scrubs backwards like 10 seconds.

Any opinions on this matter an iOS 12.1.1 B 3?
Personally I’m seeing improvements. I did a quick test and watched about 15 mins of house of cards with zero stutter/slow downs.
[doublepost=1542323011][/doublepost]I do noticed a bit of judder using Infuse. They don’t use apples built in player so maybe there’s some optimization that they need to perform.

It has to be binary :). There is either no stutter or there is stutter. Can you test for Amazon prime/ Youtube as well and see if you see any stutter?

I have a theory, since this matter relates to Xs and Xs Max.... could it be that they f...up something and the screen isn’t able to adjust to the frame rate of the movie? You can observe the same thing when you don’t set the auto adjust (forgot the option name) for ApoleTV and you play a movie. If the movie is 24fps but the TV displays 30fps or 30Hz you might say, then playback is very choppy, same goes for other fps values. If the display isn’t in sync with the movie frame rate then you will O’Leary’s get some choppyness.... so maybe, just maybe the new displays aren’t able to adjust like the old ones did and it has nothing to do with the CPU or GPU power. And if this is a hardware issue then we are doomed. I’m thinking this because the only fluid content which I play is 60fps, and just maybe when some turn off auto brightness the screen jus flickers (OLED) in such a way that it might be in sync with the movie.....
most of the video content is in 24fps, but those 30fps play quite nice although I see the stutter, but for me 60fps always play good. If this is the case I will do everything to return this phone and get a full refund. I will go back to the X which did not behave this way. Too bad, I was looking forward to double sim action.....

After a lot of escalations, I finally got a call from an Apple senior customer care executive and she asked me to give a screen recording of this issue. I am just at complete loss of wits to get the screen recording of the choppiness. When the trying to record the screen via the iPhone's screen record, the choppiness does not appear. Has anyone been able to capture the choppiness on camera?

This could be similar to the stuttering issue the new iPhone X’s & Max are having. After 10 - 15 seconds of inactivity, stuttering animations occur. The theory is that when the phone idles, the load is placed on the lower power cores. For some reason the software can’t switch to the higher cores fast enough so it causes the stutter. When the screen recording is initiated, the stuttering doesn’t happen because the recording causes the load to remain on the higher power cores. This sounds like the problem you are having. Can’t capture the choppiness if the load stays on the higher cores. Maybe record the screen using another phone?

I do not think that is the case though, as I could clearly see the stutter while the screen recording was going on. I feel the screen recorder records in 30fps and that sort of covers for the stutter.

Ahhh I see, in any case my suggestion still stands. Record the screen with another phone.

Do you have any videos from amazon and YouTube that I can benchmark against?

Try Altered Carbon series on Netflix. Or the pilot episode of the new show Homecoming on amazon prime. Both of them show the stuttering.

Does turning auto brightness off stop the stuttering? I don’t notice any with it off.
Nope it definitely does not stop it at all times. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it does not. But it is not a 100% working methodology.

I visited the apple authorised service centre today and then tested this on another iPhone XS and XS Max and noticed the same stuttering. Just have started feeling that there is no point pursuing this anymore. Apple has just cast a blind eye and deaf ear to this problem. Feels like purchase of this iPhone was the biggest mistake ever !!.

Sick and tired of following up with Apple engineers and customer support guys. Getting no resolution at all.

@JarvisMeier - did you check with the content I mentioned on the latest beta?
Anyone other than me currently engaged with Apple regarding this or have you guys given up?

I have given up, in changing light conditions I disable auto brightness when I want to watch a video.
But it shouldn’t have to be that difficult in software/OS to enable the high performance cores watching 24hz sources/video.It does when watching 60hz content, so apple....what is the problem ? It should be an easy fix.

I checked homecoming on the latest beta and there is stuttering but it seems better than what it was on stock iOS 12. It’s judder without the slowdown. Like a crappy TV.
