Stuttering seems corrected in latest 12.1.2 beta. I treat he’s the entire first episode on altered carbon with Dolby vision and had zero stutter.

Still there in Infuse. I’m selling the phone. Can’t return it, already have a buyer. I’m not so sure that my next phone will be an apple product.

Thanks for the update. Please keep us posted if you think its truly fixed. As far as those people swapping out, returning, and selling your phones you might want to hold off a bit.

Im noticing it in Infuse as well. As this is the first beta I’m sure more optimizations are on the way.

Your noticing stuttering or smoothness in infuse?
I want to say stutter. It’s not like your typical TV judder... the closest I can describe it is a slow down. Like when TVs first came out with motion interpolation and you get these random slow downs.

Here’s a good test video. Lots of nice slow panning scenes.

The slow downs only seem to happen with HDR videos. Dolby vision and SDR seem ok.

iTunes movies are still very choppy (unwatchable in my opinion) on my XS with the just released 12.1.2.

12.1.2 final is a 16C build where the current beta is 16D. The 12.1.2 final was rushed for eSIM fixes. Current beta is expected to be pushed to 12.1.3 beta

My guess is, the fix comes with the next iPhone!!!
[doublepost=1545437761][/doublepost]Turning off “True Tone” removed the stutter for me. Not exactly the fix I was looking for as I find the display a little to far on the cool/blue side.

My wife now has my iPhone X after I “upgraded” and that is absolutely fine.

I have had multiple chats with apple support and they just don’t get it.

Surely someone at Apple knows about this?!

Crazy.

I have True Tone off since day one and it does not fix it. Now if I turn off auto brightness it fixes 99% of it.

So after a lot a cribbing at the Apple store in Singapore ( I was there on a vacation), I managed to get a replacement for my max. And as expected the new device had the same stutter. I am damn sure now that this is a widespread issue and it is just that people have not yet experienced it on their devices or are ignoring it......

Yup I’m totally ignoring this.

Yeh so I was a little 2 quick to jump and think that true tone off sorted it on my device.

Its so frustrating, even watching old episodes of DS9 using the Netflix app on my phone, frame rate drops are terrible. I've noticed it on Youtube and Prime Video as well. It may sound extreme but I may have to switch to Android. My phone is my primary media consumption device.

Ive installed the IOS 12.1.3 public beta.

No change.

Ds9 is deep space 9? I’ll try it and report back.

Edit: letterbox format but no dropped frames.

So. Bought an X now. Everything works well. I have to say though, that HDR content tends to flicker a little more than regular content, might also just imagine it?! Maybe also the OLED screen looks a little different compared to my 6s LCD.
But none of the bad choppiness that I experienced on my XS.

Thought i would try Apple telephone support. There is nothing else they can try over the phone/ chat i would need to send it in for repair.

Explained this isn't an isolated issue, that its all over the forums.

Like hitting my head off a brick wall.
