Ok Christmas is just around the corner and I am unsure what I am going to get for the occasion. I am just going to be receiving money and I was going to buy a MacBook Pro with my savings. But should I buy the 2011 model for christmas or wait a couple of months for a 2012 one. Note: I currently have a crappy Compaq laptop and is in need of a serious upgrade????

Depends how bad you need it, If you don't need it that bad I would wait for the next MBP Upgrade

Wait for 2012`MBP

I strongly advice you to wait for a couple months more for the major Apple update .. I've waited for almost half year already and 2011 is almost over and rumors is about to expose very soon hence why shouldn't you wait?

Hello,

Guys, don't confuse Mac Pro and MacBook Pro. The Mac Pro is worth waiting for unless you need it for work now, but the MacBook Pro has just been released.

The OP is talking about the MacBook Pro. (Don't know why he's doing it in the Mac Pro forum though...)

If you don't absolutely need it for work wait.
The new MBP should be coming soon and be booth lighter and faster (new cpu and no dvd drive).
If you like buy the new, if not buy the old at a nice discount ;)

Yah well i don't need it extremely bad but I want it really badly. So I might end up getting the 2011 any.
BTW accidently put this under Mac Pro instead of MBP.

I've just bought the 2011. I needed a new laptop, but it wasn't an urgent need and I'm aware of the rumoured redesign coming next year.

The current MBP design is pretty stunning, and buying now you get to benefit from the years of use, feedback, and minor revisions this setup has received. It's rather 'perfect'. I know it's always nice to have Apple's latest designs, but the current spec is outstanding and having had all the kinks worked out appealed to me.
