I'm in the process of choosing my main browser. I've been using Firefox for ages, but I find it is much slower than Safari or Chrome.
I like Chrome so I've been testing that for a while now and I must say it works very well.
However, I regularly played Quake Live with Firefox, but unfortunately QL doesn't work with Chrome. Officially not supported.

Anyone have more info on this or maybe a way to make it work ? It's based on the same webkit technology as Safari (which works with QL) so there's no reason it shouldn't work...

I've found Firefox 8 and 9 (you can find them here) to be almost as fast as Chrome, while also using much less memory than previous versions. Still prefer Chrome over Firefox but that might be an option for you.

You should also take a look at your extensions. I no longer use Firefox as a main browser, but I've always seen basic/popular add-ons slow Firefox down. A naked Firefox is a tough contender for speed.

In all honesty, Chrome is faster than FF on my iMac, but Safari is like lightning, even when compared to Chrome. Furthermore, even though I like Chrome, I feel it's really "unfinished" when compared to the Windows version.

Dunno, I'll continue with FF for the moment and see how Chrome evolves. Maybe Google is deliberately holding back development of the Mac version of Chrome ; after all, Google and Apple aren't the best of friends...

I downloaded Chrome the other day as I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I have to say as far as web browsers go it's the worst browser I've ever used as far as the look and the UI goes. Even Internet Explorer was better in that respect 10 years ago. Needless to say I deleted it as I felt it was taking up valuable HD space. I've gone back to using Firefox and Safari.
