iPhone Chrome Bookmarks and recent Tabs not syncing

I've just moved from Android to iPhone and cannot get my bookmarks synced onto ios. Recent tabs isn't working either.

I've searched and tried everything I can find, including:

Checked sync is on via Chrome settings
Turned off sync, force killed Chrome, turned it on
Removed and reinstalled Chrome
Deleted Chrome and Gmail app and reinstalled ( a 2nd time)
Done a reset sync from google account

But still no bookmarks are appearing on my iPhone. They appear to be syncing fine via my desktop & laptop.
