Well that explains it. I'm interested to try ICS on my Xoom LTE, whenever that may be.

This is very nice, I am hoping it makes it over to iOS. There are other browsers on the platform but I would like to see Chrome. I use it on my Mac and Windows box and like it a lot.

Been playing with it on the Xoom and I'm now giving it a go on the Galaxy Nexus. They seem to have done even better on the phone.

I love the way you switch tabs for a start. Another cool feature is when you tap on a link in a zoomed out page, it magnifies the others around it so you get an easier area to tap on. It's most useful on forum pages where you have 1, 2, 3, etc all sitting together.

All good so far.

An iOS port would be superb!

Problem is I do not see it happening as on iOS you are required to use the safari webkit engine for rendering the web. The other browsers are really nothing more than a skin over safari.
Opera gets around the restrictions because none of the rendering is done on the phone. That is why there is no Firefox on iOS and never will be. Chrome will hit the same road block.
Right now on Android the big on phone browser are dolphin HD, Firefox mobile, and the android browser. Chrome is just another on being offered.

Chrome uses the webkit rendering engine. Firefox does not.

But it is not safari's webkit engine. Think of it as a starting point because each company makes other changes and add on to said engine to work better with their product.
You need to add the browser name to the engine so you know exactly which one.

Dolphin is the only one of that group offered on iOS. It isn't to bad, I like the tabs, but I would like to see Chrome. Just have to sit back and see if it comes over.

But then it is just a skin over Mobile safari and it is still using the mobile safari engine. Chrome uses its own engine. Apple has some pretty strike rules on how things work for the browser.

Firefox will never go over because no way in hell will Apple allow the Geko engine to be approved.
