Chrome icon stays active/in use???

-This Dude, I'm new to the forum.
I also don't know much about computers...I'm Computarded.
Yesterday I downloaded Java onto my Mac mini i5.
When I did this 2 other apps downloaded themselves. (How nice)
They were called; "Installer" and "MacKeeper"
I didn't want them so I went through finder to apps and deleted them then emptied the trash. That was all.
Now when I turn on my computer my Chrome icon is bouncing without me doing anything and the black dot is under it showing that it's active/in use.
It never did this before it always waited until I clicked it. So I'm wondering how I can correct this.
Anyone know about this?

Oh my god this happened to me too, i don't know how to get rid of it but every time i go on google chrome those adds keep on popping up. you can un-install mac keeper and installer. Its easy go to your applications folder and put it in trash or just see if they have an un-unstaller

The "installer" and "MacKeeper" are essentially malware. If you installed them, moving them to the trash and deleting it was probably not enough. I recommend you install Adware Medic and run it. It is free and does an excellent job.

As to why Chrome is acting the way it is, I don't know. It may or may not have anything to do with what you did recently. I would uninstall / reinstall and see how that goes. Do this after you run Adware Medic.

Just in case I have a problem is it one word?
Also I agree with you that was not enough I think they added a little something when they showed up, I just couldn't find an app to take them off that wasn't causing more problems.
Infact, right now while I a typing this adds are rolling in from the background and they're all broken.
Definately not normal

I used the download and it didn't help for everything. Background noise from ads it did.
At least I'm not hearing the background adds anymore.
My icon is still active and so is the Finder. I saw something on line how to stop it but it didn't work.
I think downloading that Java oracle brought some crap with it.
Anyone know what will happen if I delete Java and try to redo it???

You will re-install the same crap. You need to remove the crap, then download Java from the real Oracle source. You may even have a good copy of Java, the issue is the installer file you used installed other things.

Did you download and run Adware Medic?

Have you tried force-quitting Chrome?

Also go into Preferences, Accounts and look at the Login Items for your account, check that you know what they all are, make a note of and remove any you don't need/recognise.

Yes did download and run adware medic. It took off the extra adds but still have issue where finder and Chrome stay on.
I also did the force quit with the Option-Command-Esc option.
Chrome allowed me to force quit but finder just asked for a relaunch.
I definately got speed back to my computer and also I checked out some videos they don't appear corrupted any more.

Maybe I should use that program on California government! hahaha

As for the rest maybe the Java was just a good copy. The first time I downloaded it everything was windows based, I thought that was odd so I did another download specifically for Mac. I then went into the docs and deleted out anything that said Java.
Java is still in the settings preference portion though.

Ok, that behaviour is normal, you can only ever relaunch Finder, not quit it as you can with most other apps.

Personally I would delete and re-download Chrome (from the Google Chrome source, not another download site).

Also check your login items just to make sure there isn't anything going to relaunch when you restart the machine or logout/in...

Finally got some leway. I had to go through my entire system and delete every last piece of Java Oracle I had downloaded earlier.
As soon as I did it everything went back to normal.

But since I need Java I redownlaoded it.
My security information was still on it and it doesn't go into Apps on it's own I had to do it myself. Also no icon, that's weird.
As soon as I redid it Google icon did the same thing.
Maybe the hate each other....I don't know.

Make sure you are using 64 bit Chrome with Java. It won't run under 32 bit.

Also, Java 7 and later icon is placed under System > Preferences. Earlier versions are placed in Applications > Utilities.
