Hi,

On my rMBP, scrolling in Google Chrome is much slower than Safari. Safari is very smooth.

I'm using Chrome Version 21.0.1180.79. Anyone else have this issue?

Thanks.

Chrome lacks built in smooth scrolling on OS X. You can download an extension (like Smooth Scrollerator) on the Chrome Web Store for smoother scrolling.

Wow, never knew this, thanks. I went back to Safari in ML due to poor scrolling with Chrome. Good to hear there's another option.

type chrome:flags into the address bar.

Enable GPU compositing on all pages and Threaded compositing and relaunch chrome. This should fix your problem. Google temporarily disabled them and will be properly enabled in an update soon enough. Hopefully it fixes scrolling for you.

This works. Thank you.

I have nothing against Safari. In fact I wish I could say it's as good as Chrome. Yet I can't. Since speed so so crucial to the timed sessions I do on the web, Chrome has been a big help to me. Fast, stable & bug free, I've derived a huge benefit from using it.

About the only comparison I haven't done since I'm not using Mountain Lion, is the latest version of Safari as implemented in OS 10.8.x

the only problem with safari is reloading everytime a site is accessed. i couldnt disable it for some reason. but well...even then i moved to safari and it has been a joy!!! double tap is zoom, with a better touch tool custom tap to activate reader...just brilliant :D

But by using an extension it seems like Chrome loses its edge in memory efficiency over Safari :p

Why don't you use Safari? It's a worthy competitor to Chrome - even better IMO, especially with lateral swiping between pages. Very cool!

I feel like I'm the only person who likes Chrome's arrows more than Safari's page swipes. ><

it works! thanks! but why are they disabled by default? having these enabled offers such a better experience

The latest rev of Chrome is the fastest & very smooth. I use Safari for Apple downloads. But my day to day browser of choice is Chrome without a second thought.

Thanks Google :)
