Chrome stuttering?

Hey all,

I bought myself an 11 inch MBA 1.4ghz MBA w/ 4gb of ram about 5 days ago and im loving it so far.

I do realize that the 1.4ghz is a bit of a bottleneck, however I have noticed that only google chrome is stuttering a little bit. For example, when i close multiple tabs, and my remaining ones even out, their "movement" seems to lag a little.
Also using facebook chat, the chat box itself seems to stutter, but NOT in safari. I find this weird since chrome itself loads webpages faster than safari does, but safari just seems more polished and smoother, while loading web pages a little slower than chrome.

Is this a problem just isolated to chrome on the MBA due to the 1.4ghz cpu? Other applications that require the GPU that i use on a regular basis such as expose and spaces run like butter. 720p content (local and flash) and 1080p video (local storage) run like butter as well.

In terms of better performance and battery life, what would you guys recommend using? Safari or Chrome?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

I have this same problem when I use chrome.

I haven't really used any other browsers on it because I like having it sync between all 3 of my macs.

Running Chrome is the only program I see any lag with my 11" MBA 1.4 and 4GB Ram.

I am running Google chrome 10.0.648.6 dev on my Macbook Air 13" (max-out) and my 2008 iMac 24" (leopard). Doesn't lag at all. And it is my default browser.

I run chome release version on my 15" Macbook Pro No studder at all on it, that is why I think it is something to do with the air. (both running same most up to date version)

The weird thing is, its just chrome, not any other program. Maybe a chrome update will fix things, or a software update.

Try installing Click to Flash (an extension) that will stop Chrome from loading Flash on web pages. Chrome insists on using the old version of Flash (10.1) even if you install the beta (10.2) which uses hardware acceleration on your Air. Until Chrome supports Flash 10.2, I'd recommend Safari.

i'm using 10.2 right now on my MBA and it works fine. you just gotta go into the preferences, under the hood, content settings, plug-ins, click "disable individual plug-ins". once there you can disable 10.1 and enable 10.2.

there was a thread on MR that told you how to delete the 10.1 flash completely. if you'd prefer to do it that way do a MRGoogle or google search for it.

Do you mean ClickToFlash for Chrome like ClickToFlash for Safari?

Because I already have "FlashBlock" already install on chrome, but I wasn't aware that ClickToFlash existed for chrome. Ill look into that then, thanks.
