Chronic "Unexpectedly Quit" problems?

More and more of my apps seem to be bitting the dust. For the longest time my iTunes started giving "Unexpectely quit" messages if I'd try to edit the info of a song while it was playing or tried to convert a file to MP3. Audion also dies when trying to convert to MP3. Then a small Jpeg converter program stopped starting up entirely, instead just unexpecteldy quitting upon opening. I downloaded a similar app to convert images to jpeg and right off the bat it unexpectedly quit too.

Its real sporatic, things will work fine, then they'll all the sudden die completely and quit, then they'll never work again, and any other program that does something similar also seems to die. It seems like there is some massive underlying problem that is affecting all these programs, any idea what could be doing this? Disk Doctor, TechTool, and Disk First Aid aren't finding any problems at all

I've just started getting the same message when I try to load iPhoto- it opens, loads the library left hand side, but then 'quits' and won't open no matter how many times i attempt, reboot, etc. I'm trolling any/all boards in search of an answer- any ideas? (And what's a permission?)

Lazy macks

I had these problems and Apple Care techs encouraged me to do a clean install of OS X. This is a big hassle because you have to back up all your data but I must say it was worth it. Not only are all my conflicts eliminated but everything runs faster and smoother on a defragged drive. Make sure to choose to save personal and internet settings if you do this otherwise all your preferences will be lost. If you also have OS 9 installed I would consider NOT re-installing it unless you really need it. I recalimed 30Gb of hard drive space by leaving it on the CD.

How many "enhancements" (haxies or otherwise) do you have?

Many people have claimed that the operating system is unstable when they have loaded things which have caused the instabilities. If you have such things, de-install them or do not install them after you re-install Mac OS X to see the changes.
