Hello. Is this the right forum?

Anyway, I've looked around a lot of places for how to light something on fire in Cinema 4D and nothing...

I found one plug in, but it's just kind of "meh". I mean it's good, but I'd like a more firey fire rather than a bunch of glowing lights on the object.

Anyway, maybe I don't even need a plugin. I'm new to C4D and I know basic modeling, but I never took a class so all I have is the manual and the Internet.

Also, my experience with particles is limited to laser beams. =)

Anyone know how to make something look like it's on fire? And have actual flames?

Even a link to a tutorial is fine. Anything helps! =)

You can use the PyroCluster plugin to simulate fire and smoke but its rather slow and difficult to use in my opinion. Its included in the Advanced Render bundle so you have to buy it extra.

I should have mentioned that I have that.

I figured that's the way to do it, but I can't quite figure it out.

Maybe I'm just missing something.

I even tried putting a PyroCluster material onto my object.

Basically, what I want to do is take this object I have and set it on fire. Almost as if it were made of fire. It's not a typical shape either, it's a kind of ball with tentacles. And I'd like it to be aflame.

If you want to make flames in Cinema 4D, Pyrocluster is the best option. Maxon's manuals are very good and thick. They also have quickstart manuals/tutorials, which are included on one of the install disk.

And what you really need is patience. ;) Pyrocluster is slow in rendering and pretty difficult to learn. And after that, the results will only semi-realistic, imho. It can look pretty good of course, it just depends on what you want.

If you're just making stills, it's far easier to just photoshop the flames using photos of fire, and it will look nicer.

Hmm.Pyro used to have scene examples. They may be on the goodies cds.The only thing with Pyro is it renders bog slow unless you tweak it to death.

One of the best places for c4d help and info is CG Talks c4d forum.

Motion2 has semi reasonable fire particle effects standard.
