It should work fine. As long as you have the windows version it will work like any other windows software (Badly)

You'll need Remote Desktop Connection client from here. However, it will only work as long as there are no firewall issues - the RDC ports may be blocked in your work's network.

Also, to answer your original question, I haven't used the Cisco VPN client from a Boot Camped install, but it works fine in Parallels. And there is a Mac version that works natively in OS X - you'll need version 4.9 for Intel Macs.

The easiest route would be to get the Cisco VPN client for OS X, connect to your network, then run the Remote Desktop Connection software listed above. You'll have a window with your work computer on it, right in OS X!

I've just been told that my company doesn't support macs. So is it worth trying to get a copy of the software since I don't know how to set it up to work on my network although I do have the instructions for the windows version? Or is my only choice to run bootcamp or parallels to get to my work computer/network? Thanks again for all the info everyone. I love my mac and can't believe it's taken me this long to make the switch.

I would try the Mac approach first. Most likely it will work. I do exactly the same thing as you are trying to do, and it works great.

For Checkpoint VPN, it does work. You have to install the latest VPN client, then you have to have Remote Desktop Connection for Mac installed (either from MS Office 2004 for Mac or download from the MS - mactopia website). Once you have these installed, you have to have a working internet connection, flip on VPN (depends how your company has it setup...ours is login creditals that verify against Active Directory), and then you are internal to your company network (again, depending on your company setup).

I don't f***ing believe it! It does work natively. I didn't think to try the Mac OS X VPN. I can get rid of the VPN client! Woo-Hoo!

Woot! All that reading about Apple VPN in trying to get Checkpoint VPN to work finally paid off for someone else.
