Im wondering if there is a No-CD patch for Civ 4 vrs 1.61 around.

reason is I find it difficult to change out cd's because of disabled situation. So if I have a no-cd patch it solve the problem.

thanks

Unfortunately, no. There is one for the latest version of Beyond the Sword, though. I highly recommend it, it's a very good expansion.

Call me grossly ill informed - but do you mean I can download my cd and not need to have the cd in drive? Is this a hack or sanctioned by the company?

The PC version of BTS removed the cd check, but for whatever reason it wasn't removed in the mac version. However, if you do some googling...

You can copy the image onto your hard drive and mount it with Toast, thus not requiring the DVD... but it sounds like you're asking for some kind of crack (which wouldn't be discussed here).

The imaging trick works for some games (mostly older), but doesn't for any of the Civ 4 games (vanilla or expansions). As for cracks, they exist, but you won't get any help finding them here.

The 3.19 BTS patch for PC removed the disc check, presumably because BTS was already several years old on the PC side, so the potential piracy increase was minimal. The Mac version, on the other hand, was only a few weeks old when 3.19 came out, so understandably the publisher didn't wish to remove the disc check so soon. Whether the Mac version's disc check will ever be officially removed is unknown (I wouldn't count on it, but you never know).

ok thanks for all your help. I'll just go with asking people to change out the cd. My independent self is disappointed.

Seeing as you already legally own copies, there are cracks out there that will let you play them without having the CD inserted in your computer. Google is your friend.

Huh. I know I tried to get it to work with vanilla and couldn't get it to...don't remember if I ever bothered trying for BTS. What version of Toast are you using?
