Civilization V - Multiplayer

I installed the Civilization V updates from the App store last night. I was hopeful that the multiplayer game would work. Alas, it still doesn't. I thought that I read some place that the Steam version for Mac worked.

Does anyone know of a way to get the Mac version of Civilization V from the App Store to work?

Because it does not use Steam, the Mac App Store version of Civilization V only has Local Network and Hotseat play available. However, LAN play does work with all versions of the game.

And thank you Ryan and team for getting cross platform going on the Steam version. Already spending tons of hours playing with my friend (who doesn't own a Mac).

I can't get local LAN to work. I always get "Error Joining Multiplayer Session". I'll try the link for support.
