Simple question.

In clamshell mode, if you do a shutdown (not sleep) is it possible to turn it on without having to open the laptop?

I honestly don’t think so. In the old days, external apple keyboards came with a system power button. I don’t think, unless the new Magic Keyboard with touch ID works as a power button, this will work. I don’t think it does work that way.

Magic keyboard touch-ID button does not function as a power button.
Only the button on the built-in keyboard will do that- and, of course, you must open the lid to press the button.
There is no way to turn on power without having access to the actual power button.
Of course, for the last several years, opening the lid on Apple Laptops turns power on automatically - but you still have to open the lid.

Older Intel Macs with a connected display would turn on when power was restored. Used to be able to just plug in the power cord or a dock and the Mac would turn on without having to open it. That no longer works with Apple Silicon for some reason.
