Clamshell mode, external monitor does not work

hey all, every since the update, when i close the lid my external monitor does not work, black, no connection.. once i open the lid of the laptop its fine...

seems there is no power going to laptop when its lid closed which makes the external monitor not work..

anyone else having this issue?

some more info: what macbook model? What monitor? What power connection to macbook?

I assume you have the option to "prevent automatic sleeping on power adapter when display is off" set to On ?

yeah its connected to power but when i click on battery it shows not charging...

very weird
