I can not believe this I have been on the phone with AT&T for over 2 hours today calling jsut about any # they give out for help with activation. This has been the worst Apple experience of my life. Now I am told that I may have to wait until Monday to activate my phone.

Now does Apple file a suit against AT&T or do we, the consumers who have waited days to get this phone and now are waiting days to activate it. Can AT&T pay for the first month of service or can we walk out of our 2 year deal here? I hope Apple goes after AT&T and gets out of their 5 year deal with them and picks up another carrier.

And I hope Macrumors puts out a poll of how many people have had issues activating their phone.

Guess it was only a matter of time.

What would be the grounds of the lawsuit?

On the amount of time it taking on activation. If you pay for something and walk out the store you should be able to use your device that day. If you buy a TV in a store you aren't waiting 2 days to turn it on. AT&T are sitting with our money right now and we are staring at an iPhone in a dock that is useless.

You should expect to use it in a timely period. If they fix everything and people are all taken care of by Monday I would say they have done an outstanding job.

Oh great - as a shareholder, all I need right now is some idiot reporter saying "iPhone disaster, users starting lawsuit" due to some needlessly ridiculous post like this.

This is the stupidest thread I've read to date.

Sorry guy, you don't have a chance in hades.

I think the warnings were pretty clear that it might take up to 24 hours to activate.

It seems that a common problem has been the merger of AT&T and Cingular and the legacy plans involved.

I do feel sorry for all those who are left without a phone. In this day and age when people use their cell phone as their primary phone, it can be pretty brutal to have to go without.

That's kind of baseless since the how-to video says politely it may take awhile. Vague, I know, but on the biggest tech day of the year and with an unknown number of peple trying to do the same thing at the same time, you can't be surprised. That's the risk of buying the latest technology at onset.

Not to mention less than a hundred people on a forum out of the hundreds of thousands who bought them is not a major problem. No company could ever know exactly how prepared they would have to be for something that could be this big. Your best bet would be to calmly but sternly ask if ther eis anything they can do for your inconvenience. CIngular AT&T has done things for me before when something went wrong. If you attack them though they tend not to listen.

Kevin

We all understand people are upset, but a lawsuit? For what? Pain and suffering of not having a phone?

Get some perspective man.

You are part of the reason there are so many idiotic lawsuits out there. You know what, just sit back and it will happen. Having to wait until Monday is not a big deal. You have absolutely 0 legal grounds for any lawsuit what soever. Seems to me you are just pissed you have to switch to ATT and just want some attention.

Go back to the store and request a refund since you are NOT satisfied... If they refuse to give it to you (or attempt & succeed) in remedying your grievance then you MIGHT have a leg to stand on (but even then I doubt most lawyers would touch a case like that).

Quite honestly, you knew what you were getting in to. The entire NATION is slamming AT&T, Apple and the other carriers because of this iPhone. I called my AT&T rep and she said that my number is taking a while to fully port because Sprint is being backed up from all the number porting and contract cancellations.

If Apple goes with another carrier, it's going to be the same bit all over again, except it will be those wanting to leave t-mobile and Cingular that are begging to go to Verizon or Sprint.

... and quite frankly, its people like YOU that make this country suck, because its people like you that find reasons to bring lawsuits over the dumbest and littlest things. Most carriers warn us it may take up to 24 hours, why don't you give them that time frame and let me take care of it. Like what everyone says about the iPhone being Rev. A, this new system that AT&T and Apple are pioneering is Rev A. also.... so live with the deal that you got yourself into, and try to get out of it without resorting to lawsuits.

Amen! You're talking about a wireless device, not a heart pacemaker. I'd be frustrated and angry too, but I'd find a shred of comfort in knowing I wasn't the only one having problems and just try to sit it out. I had issues awhile back with registering an iPod and had to wait through the weekend because iTunes was having issues. I wouldn't classify these things as catastrophic and warranting legal action and compensation. That knee-jerk reaction to file a lawsuit makes my teef grind.

I had to wait in line yesterday for over an hour, and I think that is completely unreasonable!!1!!

Just imagine what could have happened if I needed to go to the bathroom!!! Well, lucky for the people behind me, I didn't, because if one of them even DREAMED of not letting me back in, I would have sued them for mental duress!!!

ANYWAY, I am preparing my class action suit against Apple for making me wait in line, and also Twelve Oaks Mall for having a mall for me to have to wait around in, and probably AT&T too, because I had to actually GO HOME to activate my phone!!! What kind of crap is that???

Don't they know that I AM VERY IMPORTANT!!! It should be evident by all of my punctuation, but apparently, everyone is too stupid to realize how very important I am!!! Listen, folks, I am going to write a very sternly-worded letter to steve@mac.com and I can assure you his entire legal team will feel my wrath just before I sue!!!

So who is with me???!1!?

Yes, it's not like your dry cleaners have lost your trousers or anything serious like that :D

Don't tell them you had it in your lap and it burned your privates. I think that claim has been retired to the Hall of Shame/Lame.

What the hell?

Class action lawsuit? your fricking lame!

One thing I can not stand in this world is when people are slightly inconvenienced and start word vomiting things about class action lawsuits. This tyoe of thing takes away from real lawsuits, plus it's the lawyer that gets all the money.

There was a class action lawsuit against Blackberry a few years ago. Everyone with this blackberry got $50, the lawyer in the case got 14.8 Million.

Just shut up and work with them to get you phone activated. Quit flying off the handle, you'll just have a heart attack.
That's it, buddy!!! You're going to be hearing from my lawyers!!!

How dare you insult the litigiously-abled!!!???

I think you can return a cell phone and cancel a contract for any reason w/in 2 weeks

I remember there being a law passed, that you can end a new contract and return a phone w/in the 1st 2 weeks for any reason right? Including reception coverage, etc.

If you hate it that much, you might want to check on that.

People must have known that a new product
with a new partnership (apple/att)
in an industry known for problem customer service (cell phones)
was going to have some issues at the beginning.

At least we should have some confidence that Apple will get this right.

Why not starting a parallel lawsuit for having to drive to get the phone, then the light that was so bright in the store?
