Classic for MacBook??

Sorry if this is a dumb question. I had an iBook and recently got a MacBook. They trasferred all of my files and programs for me but I can't seem to find a Classic folder anywhere on my laptop! I have a few programs that only run on classic. How to I get Classic for my MacBook, and can I? Thanks! :eek:

So I am screwed if I want to view any Powerpoint Presentation someone sends me because they only have PowerPoint Viewer 98 unless I want to buy the whole program?
 
I get .pps files all the time and it drives me nuts because I never knew what to use to open them. We can only hope that no one is using Powerpoint 98 anymore

I just thought that was the only thing I could download to view those files. I am a fairly new Mac user so thanks for your patience!

Ahhh, I see. Do you have Microsoft Office 2004? Powerpoint should be able to open .pps files.... You can also open them in Keynote using this trick:

EDIT: Sarah, if you don't have, or have concerns about buying Office 2004, a third (free) option is to get NeoOffice, which also opens .pps presentations. Between NeoOffice and Office 2004, you really want to get one of the two on your Mac, so that you have broad compatibility with Office documents. I have both, but I really only use MS Office 2004. :)
 
A 30 day trial of Office 2004 came with my laptop and I loved it! Unfortunately I can't afford to buy it, but I downloaded Neo Office and it works great to open the .pps files. Thank you so much for your help!

yeah, office is a really expensive program. besides neo office, there is also open office (still open source). i don't know which one is better, but it is always good to have choices

NeoOffice is basically an offshoot of OpenOffice.org. For the most part, they have taken a stable version of OOo and adapted it to use more Mac-like interface elements and feel more at home on Macs (To date, OOo versions for Mac run in an alternate unix window environment on Macs called X11, which is a long story, but basically means they don't feel exactly like Mac software).

However, OOo is actually in the process of releasing preliminary versions (alpha stage) that overcomes this issue, and ultimately, will probably mean most Mac users can just use the main OOo. Here's the alpha link:

Neo is more stable at the moment, though.
 
NeoOffice is definitely the way to go. I have been using NeoOffice for the past year through college (because I refuse to give one cent to Microsoft) and it has performed wonderfully for everything I have had to do. I have done excel homework that needed to be submitted to my accounting prof so that he could open it with excel, which worked flawlessly; I have done a large quantity of power point presentations which were opened flawlessly using a vast number of different computers using OOo and MS PowerPoint.

So NeoOffice gets my vote all the way.

*COUGH* Thepiratebay has absolutely nothing to do with it, and does not have anything helpful. DO not use the search bar and type in anything to do with Mac Software, Classic On Intel One Click Install *COUGH*
