Found this old oil painting not sure if its legit its signed on the lower left corner claude monet 1916 did a bit of research and found that there are over 250 oil water lily paintings he did oil has no smell. frame is made of wood with gold leaf trim.

Well, best of luck to you with it. Without provenance, it'll be very difficult to get it sold. You could end up in a pickle like Teri Horton and her Pollack.

My advice is to take it around to some of the local dealers in your area, as well as some in larger cities to get it looked at. Don't take any money until you have several opinions on it.

Either way, are you sure that that's not a lithograph? There seems to be no depth to the paint, an oil painting ought to have some sort of depth in the strokes. It looks an awful lot like this painting as well.
