Hey Everyone.

So the Macbook Pro mid 2009 I fixed recently, won't re-install El Capitan

I signed this Macbook out of my daughters account and removed the device as well from her account.

I formatted the Hdd and get this screen everytime I try to install it

We lost the disc, but I do have El Capitan on a USB, but for some reason the macbook doesn't boot from it, although it sees it in Disk Utility

Any help appreciated

I am in Canada, so that link didn't work for me. The thing is I have only Windows to make a USB with a download of EL Capitan, so used Transmac to make the USB
The Macbook Pro sees it, but doesn't seem to boot from it

I bought a new Hdd 2TB, and should have it in a day or so. Was going to see if that made any difference
I have checked that the date and time are correct, and also logged into Icloud and Apple and still same error

If the link won't work because you're in Canada, try the EPIC privacy browser and use "proxy mode" with a USA IP address.
Then try accessing the file via the URL above.

There used to be free sites that would let you "assume" a different IP address (than your own in Canada). You might try "spoofing" a USA IP address and see if the app store will give you the file that way.

Hmmmm... just realized that if you download from the app store, it may not be "fooled" by a different IP address.

Of course, there are torrent sites from which you could get the installer if Apple won't give it to you.

IF that doesn't work, as a last resort, you could go to ebay. There are sellers there who will sell you a USB flashdrive with a copy of El Capitan installed on it. It's a ready-to-go setup. Just boot from the USB flash drive and try to install that way.

I do believe I have tried Apple with a Proxy and it didn't work. I have tried many things, so going to put a new Hdd in , and also bought off Ebay a El Capitan USB installer . I should have made a USB installer right on the Macbook Pro before I formatted the hdd, but didn't think I would get this error
Will update once I have all that in place
Thanks for the input

You made need to change the date via Terminal.

1. In the OS X Installer, choose Utilities > Terminal.

2. Enter date 0201010116 and press Return.

3. Quit Terminal and continue the install.

I did try this, and still get the same error. The date was correct. I even tried UTC

I tried a new hard drive, but get a question mark on a folder when booting. Put the old hdd back in and same issues.

Just waiting until Monday, when the USB flash drive arrives and I pray it works lol

Thanks hardon, that site is pretty cool, but didn't have anything I needed

I got the New flash drive tonight, and finally back up and running. I will be hanging onto that in case something goes wrong

But now I am just updating, and once I have what I need, going to clone the drive to my new one, and hopefully that all goes well
