Clean install of Yosemite, how to mirgate mails?

Hello, I would apprechiate if someone could help me. On my 2011 Air i7 I am still running Lion and now want to upgrade to Yosemite. I need to copy all my stuff to an external harddisc, then I want to completely delete the Air and do the clean install. I figured how to get iTunes media copied, as well as iPhoto and other Documents. I only use iCloud for few Apps such as Safari, Contacts and Calendar. These data will be synced from iCloud so thats easy also.
The thing I dont know is how to move my emails and all the settings eg. account data & setup to an external disc. Where can I find those email data and which destination do I need to copy them to Yosemite?
Hoping for your help, cheers.

PS: I got a Time Capsule as well, but never did such thing before, I am not sure when I after a clean install of Yosemite am able to transfer those emails from my Time Capsule backup? I want to avoid to restore the whole setting, I want to keep it as clean as possible.

You can use Time Machine it will backup all your data include mail, settings etc...
After clean install you can restore all data from backup

1. Open Finder
2. Hold 'alt' and click on the 'Go' button in the Menu bar
3. Click 'Library'
4. Look for a folder in there called 'Mail' and open it
5. You should see a folder in there that is called 'V2'. It contains all your Mail.app data including messages from your Inbox and Sent folders.
6. Copy the V2 folder (or selective folders from inside that folder) and copy it back when you've done the clean install.

You can export the mailbox and save those to a external drive (Mailbox->Export mailbox). After your clean install, you can import those mailbox back (File -> Import mailbox). This way, you can have all the email data back. But you will have to configure your email account and set up your preference again. I am not sure how you can copy those settings to the new OS directly. But It seems configuring your account set up should not be too hard.

When you export, it basically exports the file which is located in that folder. So either method will work. I find this one to be a bit reliable - I've done it myself many times.
