A few questions.

I am waiting for delivery of my new 2015 13" rMBP this week.

I want to do a clean install, and to that end am currently going through my 2012 MBA, deleting old unwanted or unused files etc. in preparation.

Any tips to make this a smooth transition much appreciated. eg. Best way to do it.

Also, there are some important emails that I would like to transfer across and keep. What is the best way to do that please?

One other thing. if I move my iTunes Library to an external drive, will it only be recognised by the Mac that it was exported from?

I have my iTunes library on an external hard drive that I share between 2 Mac computers and 3 users. Make sure to hold down the OPTION KEY while launch iTunes and select choose library option, and browse to the iTunes library on the external hard drive.

Either export the mail box in which your emails sit... Or, if they are cloud based, i.e. in iCloud, then they will automatically sync when you set up your iCloud account in Mail.

I think this may also work. Copy the ~/Library/Mail folder to an external hard drive and then copy it to be new computer in ~/Library for the user account.
