cleaned my USB KB with windex, now not all keys work

So my usb KB was looking pretty grungy so got the bright (or not so bright) idea of cleaning it with windex. I sprayed a little on a paper towel and tried to gently clean the grunge off the keys.

It is now clean, but the "D" and "E" keys do not work. Its been three days also so I figure if some liquid did spill under the keys they would be dry by now.

Is it ruined?


BEtter yet, is this a good excuse to buy a new imac?

heheh well in my book time to get a new mac!!

Not good to use ammonia based products on any thing with electric/plastic parts. Hummm 3 days...any liquid that would have seeped in there will have dried already...I have a old keyboard that has senior moments and I find if I flip it over keys down (I usually put a towel under the keys) and tap it a bit it will suddenly remember where it put the S key. And if that didn't work I find banging the keyboard on the desk till I feel better method works great!!

A whole new iMac? Probably not. A new keyboard, yes.

I have ruined 3 keyboards from spilling water on them. I eat while working, very bad habit. They never seem to work right again. You can get a non-Mac keyboard for <$20.00, new Mac computer much more money. I would go for the new Mac.

In fact I am waiting for my new iMac to be shipped. When it comes I am going to get one of those plastic skins that fit over the keyboard.

The new iMac ships with a new keyboard AND mouse

Windex around electronics usually results in bad things happening.

I spilt a thick green smoothie on my iMac keyboard. It chucked it in the sink and filled it up with water and let it soak for a day. I took it out and let it dry in the sun for another day and it was fine. I'm using that keyboard right now

You need I new keyboard, but not a new iMac lol...

Well looks like you are screwed the aluminum ones are glued together.

The old plastic ones came apart, and you could repair digested sections with a Radio Shack electronic trace repair pen.
