Do I really need a cleaner/junk remover like Clean my Mac etc?

No, you do not.

The only thing I occasionally use is Onyx. It runs maintenance scripts and removes some selected caches.

I grew up with Windows and switched to Mac for my personal computing in 2015. It was difficult to drop the CCleaner / regcleaner habits of my windows days. Does Mac need cleaners? No. Does Mac leave behind stuff from uninstalled applications? Yes, but for the most part it is handled really well by the OS.

Are cleaners needed? I side with Apple_Robert here. Nope.
