Hi guys,

The seam on my AirPods has collected some lint / dirt and is dark.
Any ideas how to clean it ? I tried with a Q-tip soaked in 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide but it didn't work.

It appears what you're seeing is the adhesive connecting the Airpods and has some debris inside it. Mine are the exact same way and I have had mine only two weeks. Others have said it comes this way from the manufacturer. It's unfortunately something you will likely have to live with. Unless someone else knows how to remove it, which I don't think would be possible.

Likewise.. Happened to mine within a couple days of owning them.. I have tried several different cleaning methods, and each has failed to remove it. Sadly, I think we are just going to have to deal with it.

Slide something thin in there like a business card or envelope

An envelope may be to flimsy, however a business card is a good idea. I will try that!

It's odd but that's how I clean the seams around my gaming controllers sometimes and works fantastic.

PhoneSoap. It won't clean dirt, but it will disinfect. Or so I'm told. It's a UV light box for personal electronics. I use it on my phone and EarPods. Makes them smell... ionized?

I have seen this seam on everyone's AirPods so it's obviously part of the design, no idea what for though...

I think it's the adhesive that is somewhat dirty. Other cases are worse than others. But mine is slightly tinted dark. But nothing to the extent that I've seen from others.

I don't have mine yet as I only ordered yesterday (March 10th delivery LOL) but I hope it doesn't appear as bad in person as it does in very close up pictures, I really have a problem with dirty gadgets if I can actually see the dirt.

Perhaps it was something just to do with the first batch. Mine are hardly noticeable. Hopefully you enjoy yours when you receive them. I really like mine.

Mine are fine here. As others have said maybe it was due to excessively opening and closing them. My pods and case have had no issues getting me through a normal day.

I haven't set about trying to find flaws but they haven't had any weakness come up that is obvious.

Put them in the case every night and the case charges the pods when they run out. They do what it says on the box. I can imagine heavy users having to charge the case twice a week.

run them through the washer and dryer, they will be super clean. I don't know how many times I would do that so when they are dirty and not in the case just hide the seam in your ear so no one sees it.
